Chautauqua County, New York, comes to life in the spring and summer after long western New York winters featuring many local festivals, world-class venues, and exciting activities. There is a plethora of activities and events during Spring and Summer.

We are conveniently located only a few miles from three lakes: Lake Erie (15 miles), Findley Lake (8 miles), and Chautauqua Lake (9 miles).

Lake Erie Wine County:

Lake Erie Wine Country is delightful, whatever the season. The Chautauqua Wine Trail touts 23 great wineries that stretch along the 50-mile trail hugging Lake Erie and offering fantastic lake views, magnificent sunsets, outside seating, music, and a delightfully relaxing way to spend a leisurely afternoon.

Specialty weekends, Wine and Art Weekend (April), and Cheese and Wine Weekend (May) offer food pairings with wine tastings. These events sell out quickly, so plan ahead.

Chautauqua Institution, in Chautauqua, NY:

Visit the world-acclaimed Chautauqua Institution and its full summer venue of cultural performances and lectures, only 15 minutes from our Bed & Breakfast.

Golfing in Chautauqua County, NY:

Golfers will find more golf courses in a 50-mile radius in this area than anywhere in the nation. A trip to Chautauqua County isn't complete without playing a round of golf on one of the county's excellent golf courses. Our golf courses provide an upfront and personal view of mother nature's excellence. Whether you are a pro or a novice, a course here will match your level of play. Green fees are reasonably priced, and tee times are readily available.

Amish Country:

We are in the heart of Amish Country in Western Chautauqua County. The township of Sherman is 40% Amish, and neighboring Clymer is 60% Amish. A drive in the country will take you back in time as you drive past numerous farms working the old fashion way and many Amish home businesses offering services and products made by Amish Artisans. We are just a few miles' drive from the Amish Trail.

Local Festivals:

Local festivals are plentiful everywhere. Come experience the Tulip Festival (May), the Cherry Festival (July), the Blue Heron Festival (July), the Brushwood Festivals (July-Aug), and the Celtic Festival-Gathering of the Clan (Aug). Our local Sherman Days festival is the first Saturday in August.

Hiking Trails in Chautauqua County, NY:

Chautauqua, prime for exploration and hiking on Rails to Trails, has entry points in the Village of Sherman. Another way to view and enjoy a summer day is to discover the majestic pastoral slice of the countryside and the majestic landscapes on Chautauqua County trails. Hikers, photographers, and bird watchers will enjoy the 28-mile trail between Sherman and Brocton and its photo-worthy views.

Summer Activities at Peek n' Peak Golf & Ski Resort:

Sherman's Bed & Breakfast is just a short distance from the renowned Peek n' Peak Golf and Ski Resort. In addition to excellent golf, Peek n' Peak offers a mountain aerial adventure course, dual zip lines, Segway tours, miniature golf, and chair lift rides. If you want high adventure, this is the place!

Visit Niagara Falls:

And let's not forget Niagara Falls, which is just a 90-minute drive away. Pack a lunch, enjoy a country drive, and picnic in the park watching the falls.
