As summer fades, autumn and winter are ushered in, and our area becomes even more unique and spectacular as the fun continues. The cool crisp temperatures and beauty of fall replace the summer heat, and the cold, snowy months of winter create a Winter Wonderland.

If you enjoy autumn, come to Chautauqua County to view some of the most specular fall foliage in the country. Enjoy a leisurely drive in the rolling farm country that surrounds Sherman or an afternoon in one of the numerous parks to view mother nature at her best. It will take your breath away.

Hiking and Biking Trails in Chautauqua, NY

Chautauqua County, prime for exploration and hiking on Rails to Trails, has entry points in the Village of Sherman. Another way to view and enjoy a cool, crisp autumn day is by discovering the majestic pastoral slice of the countryside and the majestic landscapes in Chautauqua County. Hikers, photographers, and bird watchers will enjoy the 28-mile trail between Sherman and Brocton and its photo-worthy views.

Local Festivals Near Sherman's Inn on Main:

Local Festivals continue into the fall months, starting with the Busti Apple Festival (Sept). Peek 'n Peak's Fall Fest, which is one of the biggest and the best in Western NY, runs for two weekends in October.

Our Bed and Breakfast is in the Heart of Wine Country and Near the Lake Erie Wine Trail:

Lake Erie Wine Country is delightful, whatever the season, including winter. The Chautauqua Wine Trail touts 23 great wineries that stretch along the 50-mile trail that hugs Lake Erie. Several stay open in the winter. Specialty weekends, The Harvest Wine Weekend (Nov) and Wine and Chocolate Weekend (Feb), offer food pairings with wine tastings– Yum Yum. These events sell out quickly, so plan ahead.

Golf Courses Are Plentiful in Chautauqua County, NY:

Golfers continue the fun into the fall when cooler temperatures transform the entire countryside. A trip to Chautauqua County isn't complete without playing a round of golf on one of the county's excellent golf courses. Our golf courses provide an upfront and personal view of mother nature's excellence, especially in the fall months. The fall foliage and the magnificent views will take your breath away. Green fees are reasonably priced, and tee times are readily available.

Winter Is FUN FUN FUN in Western NY. If you enjoy winter activities, the Village of Sherman and Sherman's Bed and Breakfast is the place! We average over 200 inches of snow a year. Yep, you read that right. We are just 8 miles from the popular Peek 'n Peak Ski Resort, which offers downhill and cross-country trails as well as a tubing run. Want something less fancy? Bring your sleds, tubes, and toboggans, as our very own park in the village provides a nice hill to enjoy some retro childhood fun. Our Bed and Breakfast, in the heart of a Winter Wonderland, is a perfect place to plan a romantic winter getaway.

Snowmobiling Trails in Chautauqua County, NY:

Snowmobiling is very popular, and our Bed and Breakfast has direct access to the many trails that crisscross the county. The Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club is the largest club in Western NY and has been located in the snow belt of Chautauqua County for more than 40 years. With 200 miles of groomed trails and eight Class "A" Groomers, this club maintains some of the best trails in New York.

Visit Niagara Falls:

And let's not forget Niagara Falls, NY, which is just a 90-minute drive away. If it is exceptionally cold, you may get to see the falls frozen over, which is unbelievably beautiful.
